Whether you’re “Lost In Japan” or lost in the excitement of your favorite performer returning, the new set of singles from Island’s Shawn Mendes has a lot of people talking. The singer, whose next album is expected later this year, absolutely dominated iTunes late last week with a one-two punch of “In My Blood” (currently #1) and the aforementioned “Japan”, which held at #2 over the weekend. The two songs are performing more moderately at Apple Music, “Blood” now at #25 and “Japan” at #56 on that service’s main listing, though they rank among the higher pop songs on the urban-dominated list. Over on Spotify, “Blood” just completed a four-day run in the top ten on the Global survey, peaking at #4 on Friday with over 3.84 million streams, as it easily eclipses 20 million streams at the service in under a week. Meanwhile, “Japan”, which also saw its highest Global peak on Friday (#20) with 2.15 million streams, rests just under the ten million mark there. “Blood” is also pumping the chartbeat of multiple Shazam rankings, currently at #31 on the main U.S. and #4 on the Future Hits lists, and YouTube’s Trending survey, where it and “Japan” spent several days with audio-only videos.
