If tears of joy were running down your face Wednesday morning, then “Cry Pretty”, a new single from Capitol Nashville’s Carrie Underwood, was probably blaring out of your car radio. (Don’t forget to pack the tissues next time!) Serving as the lead single from her upcoming studio album, “Cry” made an immediate impact on iTunes, where it now places at #1 on the overall list. The single’s release has also bolstered Underwood’s collaboration with Ludacris, “The Champion”, which returns to the top ten at #10, giving the Country singer two titles in the region simultaneously. That track, which was used by NBC for several sports-related events, was at #1 for some time in mid-January and early February. Though it’s too early to analyze the streaming results for “Cry”, the song is starting to receive some larger playlisting, as it leads Apple Music’s The A-List: Country and Spotify’s Hot Country lists, with additional lists likely through the end of the week. It’s also experiencing a positive start at Shazam and YouTube, blasting past 100,000 views on a lyric video at the latter in a short period of time. What other surprises can we expect from the superstar’s sixth studio album? Guess we’ll have to cry and beg for more details soon. (Images courtesy of Capitol Nashville)
