2018 has given us plenty of fresh performers on the horizon, and at Whale Report HQ, we’re all about searching those chart waters for the next big catch before they take over the music world. This week, we head to Sweden to say “Hej!” to Universal newcomer LOVA, who is now celebrating one million streams for her catalog on Spotify. Last Friday, the performer released a single titled “Insecurities”, which experienced wide New Music Friday support from countries like Australia, Denmark, Norway and her native Sweden. With a handful of other solid playlists in the mix, such as New Pop Sounds and Singled Out, “Insecurities” is now well over 150,000 streams at the platform. It’s hoping to follow in the footsteps of “You Me And The Silence”, LOVA’s debut single, which should cross a million plays (currently at 944,500) by this time next week. Lists like Pop Right Now and The Office Stereo are among the ones aiding it, but “You” is also receiving a solid reaction on YouTube (47,000 views) and Shazam, as it nears the top 50 in Sweden. As the songs continue their journey around the world and across the different platforms, the U.S. charts shouldn’t be too far behind in discovering this emerging talent.
