It’s all over but the crying… that is, this year’s Academy of Country Music Awards might be over now, but the impact from them continues across the major sales and streaming services. As we noted last week, Capitol Nashville’s Carrie Underwood is still bringing the waterworks, as her water works itself into a comfortable position at the top of the all-genre iTunes chart. “Cry Pretty”, the title cut from her forthcoming album, was boosted by a powerful performance on the telecast, with additional growth across YouTube (1.8 million views), Spotify (1.5 million streams) and Shazam (15,000 tags). Broken Bow’s Jason Aldean, who sits at #4 on iTunes with “You Make It Easy” and atop the album list with new release Rearview Town, was the big winner of Entertainer of the Year, which likely aided both titles. Even days after the event, songs by acts like Bebe Rexha and Florida Georgia Line, Kane Brown and Luke Bryan, among others, are within the top ten on iTunes, all in positive territory, but also climbing the all-genre U.S. charts on both Apple Music and Spotify.
