When you weren’t oohing and aahing over the performance of a lifetime at Beychella, you might have seen a pint-sized viral sensation garnering a huge amount of press, perhaps eclipsing that of Beyoncé’s attention at times. (Sorry, Beyhive, no buzzing today.) 11-year-old Mason Ramsey, who stole the internet’s collective hearts after being dubbed the Walmart Yodeling Kid, made his first appearance at Coachella during a show by DJ/producer Whethan. Given Ramsey’s millions of views across Twitter, YouTube and other social media platforms, the remix patrol was out in full force to tempt the ears of a streaming audience. Leading the way at Spotify are “Yodeling Walmart Kid” by Charles Goose, the current #1 title on both the U.S. and Global Viral surveys with 729,000 plays to date, and two additional tracks under the same name registered to INAP (324,000) and Young Salem (165,000). Debuting at #19 on Shazam’s Future Hits list, “Yodeling Boi” by Culdesac has over 139,000 tags so far. It’s also spread to iTunes, where “Yodeling Walmart Kid EDM”, credited to Trap City, could make the top 200 soon. So, whether you’re shopping for food or a record deal, prepare to yodel!
