Just when you thought Capitol Nashville’s Carrie Underwood would be the only singer crying out for love on the national charts, think again! Last Friday, fans around the world were in awe of the return of Republic superstar Ariana Grande and her song “No Tears Left To Cry”, the lead single from her upcoming album. Grande’s new hit, which is discounted on iTunes to 69 cents, has consistently outsold the #2 song on the all-genre chart by a 2-to-1 ratio since its first day of availability. “Left” remains in the top 20 at Apple Music, making it the highest-charting release from the Pop genre on the overall chart. With notable adds on multiple key pop playlists, including the covers of New Music Friday and Today’s Top Hits in the U.S., “Left” was also huge on Spotify’s Global survey, where its run thus far (4-3-2-2-2) indicates massive staying power. In the process, the potent pop smash has cleared 30 million streams worldwide at the service, as a music video for it, a former #1 Trending clip on YouTube, just raced past 46 million views. Given its airplay to date, “Left” is also one of the top new entries on Shazam’s major lists, bowing at #9 and #51, respectively, on the Future Hits and U.S. tallies.
