Several weeks ago, the monthly Hamildrop (a single release inspired by the soundtrack from the show Hamilton) gave us the chart-topping medley of “Found/Tonight”, with two Broadway stars, Ben Platt and Hamilton’s Lin-Manuel Miranda, delivering a quality single for charity. Now, the Hamildrop returns for the end of April with another collaboration that soared to #1 upon release: “First Burn”, an early draft of the show’s “Burn”, sung by five performers who played the role of Eliza in various productions: Arianna Afsar, Julia Harriman, Lexi Lawson, Rachelle Ann Go and Shoba Narayan. Though “Burn” appears to be sales-led, as it still ranks in the top ten on iTunes, it is showing signs of growth on the other platforms. The video for the collaboration is north of 500,000 views on YouTube, and it just cleared 400,000 plays on Spotify with no major playlisting to date (though that could change by the end of the week.) With more unexpected collaborations and singles expected through the end of the year, all via the label the soundtrack was originally released on, Atlantic Records, can the series continue its fiery streak atop the charts? We’ll see just how “Satisfied” those fans are! (Images courtesy of Hamilton Uptown/Atlantic Records and YouTube / Hamilton: An American Musical)
