If you thought the “Walmart Yodeling Kid” was going away anytime soon, perhaps you’ll have to console yourself in a Target run. No, tweenager Mason Ramsey, who we first reported about two weeks ago, has recently struck a joint record deal with Atlantic and Big Loud Records to release his first original song, “Famous”. As you might expect, the song is generating a ton of curiosity, especially here in the States. Currently in the top ten on iTunes, the song has reached a peak of #5 on the all-genre chart, making it the #1 country song in the land. Internationally, it’s charted in over 30 territories at the service. With adds on key Spotify lists like New Music Friday and Today’s Top Hits, the single is a strong chart-topper on the platform’s Global and U.S. Viral lists, with nearly 4.5 million streams and rising quickly. In fact, “Famous” is still on the main U.S. (#35) and Global (#68) tallies, ranking above one million daily plays since April 30. At YouTube, its lyric video, a former Trending clip, is well north of six million views, while it earns a bit of play at Country radio, leading to just under 15,000 tags at Shazam on the most recent update. Does the Billy Gilman of this cycle continue his momentum? He’s one voice to watch! (Images courtesy of Atlantic and Big Loud Records)
