2018 has given us plenty of fresh performers on the horizon, and at Whale Report HQ, we’re all about searching those chart waters for the next big catch before they take over the music world. This week, we don’t wait to cover the single titled “Wait”, the first release for well-known DJ and model Chantel Jeffries. Her song, which features Offset and Vory, is also the first release to be issued under the new label 10:22 pm, which is partnered with Capitol Records. With a big global fanbase, listeners propelled the tune onto the all-genre list on iTunes in nearly 50 countries, including here in the States, reaching the top ten in ten of them. Jeffries’s single is also performing extremely well at Spotify, debuting at #5 and #6 on the Global and U.S. Viral charts, respectively, aided by key adds on New Music Friday playlists and the cover of pop list Teen Party. (The song currently sits at 1.9 million streams as of Wednesday afternoon.) The playlist buzz continues at Apple Music, where Best Of The Week, The A-List Pop and other lists have the song in rotation, while its YouTube (664,000 views) and Shazam (6,500 tags) totals try to catch up. No matter how you spin it, DJ Jeffries will have no issues keeping this record going. (Images courtesy of 10:22 pm and Capitol Records)
