For some time, it seemed that the music career of RCA’s Christina Aguilera had gone the way of the dinosaurs. After a series of prominent pop features that became larger hits, there was no sign of an album to follow. In fact, some even dubbed her Xtincta because of the matter. Now, the pop siren returns with the third cut to be released off her forthcoming album, and she’s getting a bit of help from another prominent pop star, Island’s Demi Lovato, in the quest for Liberation. Rising to #1 on iTunes, “Fall In Line” has easily surpassed the chart peaks of Ty Dolla $ign and 2 Chainz-assisted “Accelerate” (#12) and follow-up single “Twice” (#22), and that peak doesn’t include the likely spike from a performance on the Billboard Music Awards on Sunday evening. “Fall” is well over 500,000 views on YouTube just hours after it debuted on Wednesday, as it looks poised to hit the Trending chart, though it’s going to take a while before it catches up with the view counts of her last two singles. Radio play and playlisting is limited at the moment, as the major services continue to focus on “Twice” (#50 U.S. Viral), but “Fall” will inevitably see notable gains at both.
