Nothing says summer like a refreshing drink on a hot day, so we think it’s great that Columbia’s Pharrell Williams and Syco/Epic’s Camila Cabello are serving the concoction of choice for your top 40 thirst. That tasty treat is “Sangria Wine”, the first collaboration between the two artists, which debuted on Friday. In a crowded market, the song reached #11 on iTunes in the U.S., though it did enter the top ten in 47 of the 92 countries it charted in. That being said, Cabello’s momentum on the U.S. list extended beyond that after a performance on the Billboard Music Awards, with proven hits “Havana” (#10) and “Never Be The Same” (#16) joining the tune in the top 20. “Sangria” is also enjoying a solid taste at Spotify, with 6.51 million plays so far and Viral action on both the U.S. (#5) and Global (#7) Viral charts. (At Apple Music, the collaboration just entered the top 200 on the U.S. list.) On YouTube, a static clip for the tune is now at a large 4.3 million views, while its 42,500 tags on Shazam left it just short of debuting on either U.S. list. Of course, Cabello’s “Never” more than makes up for that, as its video (115.5 million views) and airplay (#3 U.S., 4.284 million tags) continue to dominate in the U.S. and around the world. Can the 21-year-old pop star remain hotter than a hot toddy on the charts? Let’s toast to another hit! (Images courtesy of Columbia Records)
