From “God’s Plan” to “Nice For What” to his latest tune, “I’m Upset”, YMCMB/Republic superstar Drake has been stinging the sales and streaming lists with a string of hot singles off his forthcoming Scorpion set, due sometime in June. The debut of “Upset” over the weekend comes at a particularly interesting time for the popular performer, who finds himself embattled in a war of words with Def Jam’s Pusha T, resulting in several notable diss songs. For the “6 God” himself, “Duppy Freestyle” now has well over 7.85 million plays on SoundCloud, but this rap beef is far from over. Meanwhile, Drake can enjoy the third consecutive #1 hit from his latest era at iTunes, which topped the all-genre lists in just over two dozen countries. However, it does appear that the single is off to a much slower start at streaming services, where his releases are known to experience massive debuts. “Upset” has yet to top Spotify’s U.S. or Global lists, where it currently sits at #4 and #14, respectively, and it’s just inside the top 40 on Apple Music’s chart. The song is also climbing on YouTube, where an audio-only video is just under six million views, and Shazam, with more than 38,000 tags to date. Who will the scorpion attack next? Watch out!
