Loading up on some tasty treats for your new summer playlist? If you’re in need of a sugar rush, YMCMB’s Nicki Minaj and Republic labelmate Ariana Grande have a winning solution for you. (Just don’t tell the dentist.) Last Thursday, the two women released a new song from Minaj’s upcoming album Queen, “Bed”, which wasn’t about to be sleeping around at the bottom of the charts. Ranking in 100 territories on iTunes around the world, hitting #1 in half and the top ten in 81, its impressive debut and subsequent performance is just behind “Chun-Li” and its initial run when it was released in April. At Spotify, the single just cleared 11 million plays in under a week, with reactive Viral list runs (#5 Global/#8 U.S.) and notable pop playlisting. The buzz is also building for the tune’s music video: a teaser for the clip just passed 1.5 million views on Minaj’s official YouTube channel. Now, the two popular performers are lighting up the market once again with a new collaboration called “the light is coming”, included on Grande’s upcoming Sweetener set. As it swiftly hits the iTunes lists in more than 80 countries, including its #2 rank in the U.S., the dynamic duo and queens of ear candy keep sweetening this delicious deal!
