Following his death on Monday, fans of Bad Vibes Forever performer XXXTENTACION bought and streamed much of his catalog, consisting of two studio albums and a handful of EPs and mixtapes, with a large amount of songs ranking in the top tier of most charts in the U.S. and globally. The controversial artist currently claims four of the top ten songs on iTunes with “SAD!” (now at #1), “changes” (#5), “Moonlight” (#8) and “Jocelyn Flores” (#10), with six additional titles ranking in the top 100. On Spotify’s most recent U.S. update, he’s responsible for nine of the top ten songs and an enormous 37 of the top 100 titles on that chart alone. That said, it’s no wonder that “SAD!” now holds a new Global record there, totaling 10.415 million plays on Tuesday. Both Spotify and Apple Music’s all-genre surveys nearly mirror each other, with “SAD!” (#1), “Jocelyn” (#2) and “Moonlight” (#3) holding down the top three slots at the former, with the #2 and #3 titles reversed at the latter. YouTube data in the last 48 hours has also been very strong, with clips for “SAD!” and “changes” appearing at #1 and #5, respectively, on the most recent daily charts. Is a posthumous #1 in the works on either the Hot 100 or Billboard 200? It’s a hard ? to solve. (Images courtesy of Bad Vibes Forever and EMPIRE Distribution)
