2018 has given us plenty of fresh performers on the horizon, and at Whale Report HQ, we’re all about searching those chart waters for the next big catch before they take over the music world. This week, there’s a new light shining on the national lists, courtesy of one-time The Four contestant and current Columbia artist Zhavia Ward, who just released her single titled “Candlelight” on Friday. Her previous covers from her time on the show have accumulated a big 22 million streams on Spotify alone, and her inclusion on the Deadpool 2 hit collaboration “Welcome To The Party” adds just under 48 million combined plays to her total there. Now, back on her own, Ward’s future hit is well on its way towards a good run on the charts, peaking at #39 on iTunes several days ago, while also charting in nearly 50 countries worldwide. At Spotify, her release has passed 650,000 streams without major U.S. playlisting, though that could change in the coming weeks. Meanwhile, “Candlelight” burns with just over 4,000 tags on Shazam and 2.3 million views for a music video on YouTube, buoyed by its presence in the top 50 on YouTube’s Trending list. With nice tunes like this one, we think she’ll be around four a while to come. (Images courtesy of Columbia Records / YouTube: Zhavia Ward)
