Back in June, RCA Nashville’s Kane Brown was riding high on top of the initial stats for his single “Lose It”, which got to #1 on iTunes, sits at 11.5 million plays on Spotify and continues its fast run up the Country radio chart. While “Lose” proved to be a winner, Brown still has plenty of tricks up his sleeve, including a new song that’s poised to carry on that momentum. Released on Wednesday morning, “Weekend”, issued as a two-track single with a new acoustic version of “Lose”, reached a peak of #2 (just behind Drake’s “In My Feelings”) on the iTunes chart in the U.S., as it entered the all-genre chart in 14 countries. The current numbers are essentially on par with the first-day stats for “Lose”, though it’s too early to assess how it will compare in the streaming world, as the playlisting for Brown is still focused on his prior single. (You’ll find the hit in the mix on Apple Music’s Country Songs of Summer and The A-List: Country playlists, as well as Spotify’s Hot Country and Pop-Co lists.) On YouTube, a fan video for “Weekend” debuted the same day, which has about 75,000 views to date, while its Shazam data is negligible, though it’ll be some time before it comes anywhere near the 10.5 million views and 85,000 tags that “Lose” has accumulated in the past two months. Still, your weekend activities won’t be as fun without it. (Images courtesy of RCA Nashville and Instagram / Kane Brown)
