2018 has been a year of blockbuster streaming releases, especially in the Urban space, and the newest album to produce massive numbers around the world is in a world of its own. That set is ASTROWORLD by Grand Hustle/Cactus Jack/Epic’s Travis Scott, holding at #1 on both Apple Music and iTunes. Nearly a week after it debuted, just one of the 17 cuts from the set appears outside of the top 20 on Apple Music’s overall list, where songs like “SICKO MODE” (#1), “STARGAZING” (#2) and “YOSEMITE” (#3) lead the way. All three titles are also holding in the top ten on Spotify’s U.S. chart, currently at #1, #4 and #10, respectively, as another cut titled “CAROUSEL” (#8) joins the party. Given the intense reaction in just its first few days, it shouldn’t be a surprise that the whole album has generated more than 500 million plays at Spotify, a large part of that coming from one-time stand-alone single “BUTTERFLY EFFECT”, fluttering closer to a giant 383 million streams. Elsewhere, “SICKO” was far and away the highest-charting cut from the set on iTunes, finishing in the runner-up position late last week, while also generating a solid buzz on Shazam, coming in at #3 and #20 on the Future Hits and main U.S. charts with 104,000 tags since Friday. The amusement park is sure to stay parked on the charts for a little bit longer. (Images courtesy of Grand Hustle, Cactus Jack and Epic Records)
