Hot on the heels of her huge R&B and pop hit “Boo’d Up” and its remix with Nicki Minaj and Quavo, 10 Summers/Interscope’s Ella Mai isn’t wasting any time releasing a follow-up single. “Trip”, which debuted on Friday, is already taking a trip up the charts in plenty of countries. So far, it’s reached a high of #23 in the U.S. on iTunes, as it enters the all-genre list in 35 countries globally. Though “Boo’d” and its remix entered the same list in 60-65 countries at their peaks, it’s premature to say “Trip” is underperforming. In fact, Mai’s song is doing fairly well on streaming services like Apple Music and Spotify, jumping to #49 on the former and ranking at #20 and #26 on the latter’s U.S. and Global Viral charts, respectively. Additionally, “Trip” has 1.8 million plays to date at Spotify, with adds on prominent playlists like Are & Be and Hot Rhythmic, as well as New Music Friday, aiding in the song’s ascent at the platform. The singer’s trip on the charts continues at YouTube, where an audio-only video has surged north of 1.3 million views in roughly a week’s time. Her release has also developed some solid interest at Shazam, with over 32,000 tags thus far, starting at #9 and #82 on the Future Hits and main U.S. lists there. Though it’ll take some time for this hit to match the heights that “Boo’d” accomplished, the trip is worth it! (Images courtesy of 10 Summers and Interscope Records)
