There’s a new favorite release in the K-pop world, and surprisingly, it’s not by BTS. This single marks the debut of Blockberry Creative’s LOOΠΔ, twelve women from Seoul that have previously charted with individual sets or EPs that feature some of its members. “favOriTe” made its debut on Tuesday and rapidly spread around the world, debuting on the all-genre chart at iTunes in 53 countries, including a #45 peak on the U.S. list. Most of the current playlisting for the tune is focused on the K-pop genre, including Apple Music’s The A-List: K-Pop and Spotify’s Women of K-Pop, though that may change when the usual Friday playlists turn over. (Neither of the two services are reporting “favOriTe” on any U.S. or worldwide chart.) A video for the single, now ranking on YouTube’s Trending list, has more than 1.5 million views in just over a day. The act’s solid start comes during a busy week in K-pop, as fresh releases from SM Entertainment’s Red Velvet and JYP Entertainment’s Stray Kids also reacted nicely on iTunes upon their debut on Monday, the former reaching #2 and the latter reaching #8 on the album list. Additionally, some of the cuts from Red Velvet’s Summer Magic - Summer Mini Album hit the top 100 on the songs list, led by “Bad Boy” at #95. Make sure to support your favorite group!
