It’s amazing what “One Kiss” will do, as it turned some smooches into streams for Columbia star Calvin Harris and Warner Bros. performer Dua Lipa. The terrific twosome’s hit continues to shine, scoring more than 490 million streams globally on Spotify, while a video for it has accumulated over 310 million views on YouTube. Now, Harris is flying up the charts with the Sam Smith-assisted “Promises”, and given their string of hits, this single is promising to stick around through the fall months. At iTunes, “Promises” charted in a solid 84 territories, three more than the debut of the Logic-assisted “Pray” by Capitol’s Smith from March. (“One” charted in 113 at the same service about a week later.) Of the 84 affiliates, 60 reported the song in the top ten in their respective countries, though the U.S. wasn’t one of them, stalling at #12 so far. Still, with building airplay rolling in at the Top 40 format, it could find a new peak soon. Given the song’s hold in the top 20 and top 40 on Spotify’s U.S. and Global charts, respectively, the hit is now well over ten million streams there, with other momentum on Shazam (157,000 tags) and YouTube (4.4 million views). This may be the beginning of a very promising musical partnership. (Images courtesy of Columbia Records)
