2018 has been another exciting year for Kobalt’s Lauv, with continued streaming hits in the last few months like “Superhero”, currently at 13.8 million streams on Spotify, and one of the ultimate slow burners at mainstream radio, “I Like Me Better”, a top ten single at several formats that continues its run in the lower rungs of the top 100 on iTunes. About a week ago, another hit from the blue boy was released, this one featuring a special guest: Republic performer Julia Michaels. “There’s No Way” said “yes way” to a solid start, going as high as #24 on iTunes. It also charted in 53 territories globally at the service, reaching the top 25 in 31, which is a better result than “Superhero” experienced when it debuted at the end of August. With a number of big lists on the pop side adding the single, including It’s A Hit, Pop Rising and a range of New Music Friday looks, the song easily topped 4.1 million streams on Spotify by Wednesday, which should continue to grow well. On YouTube, a music video for “There’s” is nearing 2.5 million views, also poised to pass “Superhero” in a matter of days. Finally, as the collaboration prepares for a multi-format run at radio in the U.S., it’s been tagged more than 15,000 times on Shazam, ranking just under his top 20 most tagged hits at the service. Two is better than one, and they’ve won alright. (Images courtesy of Kobalt Music Group and YouTube: Lauv)
