She’s traveled to the “Eastside” on the charts with Friends Keep Secrets/Interscope’s benny blanco and Right Hand/RCA’s Khalid, entering the top ten on iTunes and Spotify’s Global list, but “Without Me”, the latest song from Capitol’s Halsey, looks like it could be one of the fall’s hits that we just can’t do without. Released on Thursday, the very personal track exploded almost immediately, jumping to #2 on iTunes in the U.S. and reaching the all-genre list in 81 affiliates worldwide. A second version of the song also landed in the top 50 here for a short time, peaking at #44. With substantial playlisting at both Apple Music and Spotify during the past few days, the hit easily found momentum in the streaming space: at the latter platform, “Without” currently sits at 15.9 million plays and is climbing quickly. In the pop category, she is featured on the covers of both the U.S.-based New Music Friday and Singled Out lists. Elsewhere, an audio-only video for the tune has generated more than 4.5 million views on YouTube, as it checks in at #41 on Shazam’s U.S. list with 63,000 tags, thanks in part to a successful radio campaign. Will it become her biggest solo hit to date when all is said and done? She’s getting “closer” to the goal. (Images courtesy of Capitol Records)
