At any moment, BigHit’s BTS and their passionate fans could storm the charts with their next big hit. Last Thursday, it was the group’s feature on “Waste It On Me”, the latest single from Ultra DJ and producer Steve Aoki, that wasted no time in its quest for the top spot. The release marks the second collaboration for Aoki and the septet, as he previously remixed the hit “MIC Drop” for BTS, which leaped to #1 on iTunes last November and has 137.5 million streams combined on Spotify. “Waste” easily reached the top as well at the platform, charting in a total of 99 countries. Of those 99, the single landed at #1 in 72 and hit the top ten in an impressive 92. It also sports huge numbers at Spotify, having been streamed over 13 million times in the past few days, with adds on several dozen pop and dance playlists internationally. A lyric video for the hit has achieved a very solid 9.1 million views on YouTube, though an official video is anticipated to go much higher. In the meantime, as “Waste” begins at the Top 40 radio format, it’s also starting strong on Shazam with over 267,000 tags at the service, debuting at #56 on the U.S. chart. As it continues to spike across the major metrics, will both acts claim their biggest U.S. hit? We’ll see. (Images courtesy of Ultra Music)
