It’s beginning to look a lot like a Christmas overload on the sales and streaming charts, with new releases and classic hits spiking after Thanksgiving and some seasonal television specials. With “All I Want For Christmas Is You” by Mariah Carey making the top ten on iTunes, still at #9 on the all-genre list, Rhodes/Fuel Music duo Caleb + Kelsey leap onto the Christian and pop charts with “Christmas Hallelujah” (currently #16 on the latter) and the set Christmas Together, which got to #13 on the albums chart. Annual favorites from artists like Bobby Helms, Brenda Lee and Wham! are also now in the top 100 songs, with a number of other singles by Andy Williams, Band Aid and Burl Ives in the region on Spotify. (Carey leads there as well, presently at #22 on the U.S. list.) With a pair of new albums in the top three on iTunes, Christmas Is Here! by RCA’s Pentatonix (#2) and A Legendary Christmas from Columbia’s John Legend (#3) are scoring with consumers as well. Who’ll have a ho-ho-hold on the charts in December? Santa may know. (Images courtesy of Columbia and RCA Records)
