It’s been a huge 2018 for BMG’s comeback queen Avril Lavigne, who reached the top spot on iTunes earlier this year with her powerful ballad “Head Above Water”. To date, the song has about 488,000 tags at Shazam, 45 million plays at Spotify and 50 million views at YouTube, as it remains active in the top 100 at iTunes here (currently #89) and abroad. Now, as she looks forward to the February debut of her album Head Above Water, Lavigne is ready with the second hit from the set. Debuting midday Wednesday, “Tell Me It’s Over” has already charted in roughly 45 countries at iTunes, as it rises through the lower rungs of the top 100 on the U.S. list.
It’s also begun to pop up on several New Music Friday playlists at Spotify, with the song earning nearly 90,000 plays during its first twelve hours here. Currently, “Tell” appears the most reactive at YouTube: a music video for the single has cleared a million views in under a day, reaching #2 on the Trending survey.
