Puth or dare: which popular sibling was gracing the market with a “Sexual Vibe” this week? The answer isn’t Charlie, but it is Arista’s Stephen Puth. The release is the performer’s first for the recently relaunched label, which hit digital services a full week ago. In that time, “Sexual” has started to earn some solid numbers at several services, which could be the start of a record to watch for early next year. On Spotify, the tune has cleared 280,000 plays, helped out by New Music Friday playlisting in Germany, Sweden and the U.S., as well as the Pop Rising list. Puth’s single is also being supported by Apple Music on lists like Best of the Week and Pure Pop 50. A music video for the song is also building nicely, passing 115,000 views on YouTube. Though the action for it on iTunes is more limited, entering the all-genre survey in a half-dozen countries, it’s still in the top 100 on the Pop genre list in the States, where it peaked at #48. With his EP on the horizon for early next year and the steady growth for “Sexual”, the moment of Puth has arrived... (Images courtesy of Arista Records and YouTube / Stephen Puth)
