Imagining a world without the songs of Republic’s Ariana Grande sounds like a horrible nightmare... luckily, the performer has been releasing a lot of great music this year, including the record-breaking single “thank u, next” and her new tune “imagine”. Debuting on Friday, the latter leaped to #1 on iTunes in the U.S. and globally, reaching the top spot in 55 of the 92 countries it charted in. While extremely reactive, it does fall below the stats for “thank” at the platform, which ranked in 115 countries and reached the top in 72. On Spotify, “imagine” almost led the U.S. list, falling just behind “thank” during its first day of availability. To date, it has 19 million plays at that service alone, with great action on Apple Music (currently in the top 50 overall) as well. A pair of videos on YouTube are also reacting well, with a lyric video for the song at 9.5 million views and a performance from The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon at about two million. A total of 22,000 tags for it have also come in on Shazam so far. No need to imagine: Grande has a hit. (Images courtesy of Republic Records)
