Just as the postman delivers gifts each and every holiday season, the Post man delivered a pair of big gifts late last month that sleighed the charts around the world. He, of course, is Republic’s Post Malone, who was feeling very merry and musical when he released the hit “Wow.” on December 24. It quickly climbed to #1 on iTunes and Spotify in the U.S., giving the performer the top two spots at both services, as the Swae Lee-assisted “Sunflower” glided down a notch into the runner-up position (though it has since returned to #1.) “Wow.” also led the overall chart at Apple Music several days after it was released; both it and “Sunflower” remain in the top ten there. Though the latter title has the more impressive numbers thus far, with over 262 million plays on Spotify, 157 million views on YouTube and 1.5 million tags on Shazam, “Wow.” is rising steadily at the same platforms, reaching 41 million plays, 8.3 million views and 80,000 tags as of the most recent updates. With his newest song and proven hit from the soundtrack to Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse continuing to dominate, the Post with the most is doing just fine. (Images courtesy of Republic Records)
