We hope it’s been a nice 2019 so far for all you readers out there! As many people do, you likely ended last year or started the new year off with some music. With all the options for special New Year’s Eve programming, chances are that you saw some of your favorite artists on television. A number of songs performed on these respective broadcasts were climbing on iTunes hours after they aired, with radio hits by performers such as Syco/Epic’s Camila Cabello and Black River’s Kelsea Ballerini returning to the top 40 on the all-genre chart. Meanwhile, more traditional tunes associated with the big event also appeared in the lower rungs of the top 200: a pair of “Auld Lang Syne” versions from bandleader Guy Lombardo (#99) and superstar Mariah Carey (#137) returned to the list for a brief time, as Louis Armstrong’s standard “What A Wonderful World” (#142) followed just behind. Frank Sinatra also got his “Theme From New York, New York” (#191) just inside the top 200. We’d say it’s a fairly good “Syne” to see these hits reacting, but don’t forget to keep your resolution to listen to more music!
